Marcos Cruz

Marcos Cruz is Professor of Innovative Environments and Director of BiotA Lab at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL. He has developed an extensive career as an educator and researcher, having led Unit 20 for over 17 years. In addition to being Director of the Bartlett (2010-14) he has also taught at UCLA, University of Westminster and is currently Visiting Professor at the IaaC where he runs the C-Biom.A group in the MAA2. Cruz’s research on Neoplasmatic Architecture won the RIBA’s International Research Award in 2008. Since 2000 he is co-principal of the studio marcosandmarjan with whom he has built over 20 installations and buildings. Cruz has lectured widely and is author and editor of numerous books and publications, including The Inhabitable Flesh of Architecture (Ashgate 2013); AD Neoplasmatic Design (Wiley 2008); marcosandmarjan - Interfaces/Intrafaces (Springer 2005). Cruz is currently PI of a major research on Bioreceptive Design funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council UK.
