Mareike Gast graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in Industrial Design in 2005. From 2006 to 2010 she worked as a freelancer inter alia for Nicola Stattmann. Since 2011 she runs her own industrial design office specialised in new materials and technologies. She firmly believes that the material- and technology strategy should play a key role from the very beginning when developing innovative and fascinating products. Besides designing products closely together with companies, researchers and product specialists, Mareike Gast regularly gives lectures on the potential of new materials and technologies and teaches at national and international design and architecture schools. She held a guest professorship at the Burg Giebichenstein Halle in2011. For the design festival Designers‘ Open 2011 in Leipzig Mareike Gast curated the special exhibition and conference ,smart materials - new design‘ with the topics lightweight materials, functional textiles and printed electronics. In 2012 both were continued with the new topics natureTECH, ENERGetic and inMOTION.
